Kate Fawcett : "i am a Contemporary Expressive Artist living in Cheshire. My work is informed by my emotional response to my subject matter. Through my expressive style I strive to capture the energy, composition, colour and texture of my source material, whether it be a landscape, seascape or florals. My approach is process led and experimental, applying paint, collage and drawn marks with a variety of implements in a dynamic manner. Over time many layers are built up, scraped through and sanded back in a struggle to create depth, composition and harmony. A dialogue is created between myself and the painting until finally we both agree that it is finished. My work can be found in many private collections both nationally and internationally. This year one of my pieces was accepted by the Royal Society of British Artists for their annual exhibition at the The Mall Galleries in London. It is a joy and a privilege to be one of The Northern Girls. "

Antoniela Ginourie : "I am a professional artist, exhibiting and selling my work in the UK and abroad. I was born in Portugal but now live and spend most of my time in the UK.
I studied Fine Art, specialising in Painting and Printmaking and completed a diploma in Design and Craft, 3D studies, namely Ceramics. The inspiration for my work comes from my surroundings and environment in the UK and Portugal. My work puts the viewer inside a moment, a memory or loved place and is represented in a semi abstract way with the energy and emotion of the place. My ceramics are a variety of hand craft contemporary work based on organic form with textures taken from nature. |
Ginny McDermott : "I'm a Macclesfield based artist painting atmospheric and emotive landscapes and townscapes, many inspired by living at the edge of the Peak District. In oils I work quickly, painting wet-in-wet creating a textured surface with either brush or palette knife. In acrylics I build up abstract layers of colour and texture using all sorts of implements for mark making. I aim to create work that inspires, enthuses or just reminds you of people, places and times past – it’s a great adventure!"
I exhibited and sold at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2023, and this year was a ‘wildcard’ in an episode of the next series of Sky Landscape Artist of the Year. I have exhibited and sold regularly at the East Cheshire Hospice, Artfair Cheshire and currently have work available locally from Mel Hood at Bollington’s Northern Exposure Gallery and in York at the Luxe Company shop on Coney Street. My next exhibition will be at the Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage in September 2024. |
Di Metcalfe : "I’ve been painting the North Wales coast for many years, particularly the beautiful ‘Llyn Peninsula’, and my paintings are mainly semi abstract.
Acrylic paints and inks are my starting point, creating big bold marks for initial structure, then working over the top with oil colour, it’s then a constant process of adding paint layers, and wiping away again in certain areas, until the painting is finished, that’s the theory anyway, the quote ‘Art Is Never Finished, Only Abandoned’, sums up my painting experience completely." |
Zelda Pickup : "I am a painter and have always loved painting landscapes and seascapes. More recently I have also painted contemporary still life, an interest which arose out of lockdown when I looked more closely at the domestic objects which surround us and the quiet enjoyment which can be found there. My still life paintings use simple forms, vibrant colours and an altered perspective. They particularly emphasize colour and colour relationships. For me, this combination lifts the work out of the ordinary and unexpectedly, there is an enigmatic sense of singularity within the work.
This thinking now also informs my landscape work which also adopts simple forms and altered perspective. I have long been interested in the use of colour and its effect on mood and atmosphere. The desire to find a combination that unlocks my vision is the constant motivation behind my work. I will be exhibiting at the Macclesfield ArtFair at the Town Hall Macclesfield from 26th September to 3rd October in aid of East Cheshire Hospice. Some of my work will also be on exhibition at the Clonterbrook Gallery as part of the Goosfest ‘Art in the Barns’ arts festival this September. More information about my work be found on my website www.zeldapickup.com Updates and news of upcoming events are on Instagram @zeldaartistcheshire" |
Allie Pottinger : Watercolour Artist BA hons
"The delights of watercolour never fail to enthral me. There is transparency, fluidity & spontaneity. I enjoy the excitement of expressing characteristics and features that inspire me. I graduated as an illustrator, working in my studio in Covent Garden, for magazine houses and advertising & design agencies - however, over the years I love the freedom working as a freelance watercolour artist based in leafy, rural Cheshire - creating paintings by season, colourful seascapes, landscapes, wildlife and florals. Painting & sketching, immersed in the landscape, inspired by a spectacular sunrise or sunset skies. More recently however, my career has seen a prolific turn back to my roots as an illustrator! I am currently delighted to be working on some extremely high profile projects... More will be revealed next year. Whilst working on these projects, I continue to enjoy running my popular watercolour workshops at Capesthorne Hall, Toolerstone and my own studio gallery in Swettenham Heath. Sharing my knowledge of watercolour techniques, in a calm, inspirational and fun environment is so rewarding." |
Alison Stafford : My artist journey has taken me to many places, and I am currently exploring Lyrical Abstraction through a deep meditative approach to each painting. I am constantly seeking new ways to communicate my emotional response to my environment. No two works are the same and they often come from a different place and follow a different process. It is a constant dance between spontaneity and practicality which can be magical and also frustrating but the challenge to communicate without words is my driving force. Colour is my passion and I use it to evoke a mood or emotion.
It is important to me to maintain an open mind in order to receive the wisdom of others and be receptive to inspiration from wherever and whenever it comes and this has lead to some wonderful experiences and joyful art making. Winner of the SAA Artists of The Year 2024 Competition – Abstract and Experimental Runner Up – The British Art Prize 2024 A finalist in BBC 1’s ‘The Big Painting Challenge’, collaborative art projects and exhibitions with some wonderful fellow artists. I also run workshops in Acrylics and Abstracting the Landscape and teach adults art courtesy of Seasons Art Classes in Congleton once a week. Every first and third Thursday of the month you will find me running Paint and Sip events with Fizzcasso at venues in Cheshire in my mission to ignite the creative spark in as many people as I can. My aim is to get you to see it all through my eyes and recognise that little part of you that comes alight when the light in the landscape suddenly changes, or the colour of a sunrise, the emergence of snowdrops after a cold winter and to see how we all fit into Natures big plan. |
